Michael started his career as a Chef while at Tep’s Restaurant. The restaurant started as a pizzeria, but Mike had bigger visions and grew the business into a popular dining destination. Tep’s was reviewed twice by the Newark Star Ledger and garnished 3 Stars and “a Must Visit in Central NJ”.
Partnering with his father Nelson, Mike’s next venture was Mike & Nellie’s Steak and Seafood in Oakhurst, NJ. A bigger vision was fulfilled, and they created a restaurant with Italian based cuisine, but added other fare that included Mike’s love of steak and locally sourced seafood. Mike & Nellie’s quickly became a Shore favorite, and was voted Best Fine Dining Restaurant 3 years in a row in an Asbury Park Press Readers Poll.
Mike now brings his passion for food to his latest venture, Blue Basil Catering. He specializes in house parties for 10 - 75 people. He will transform your home kitchen into a restaurant kitchen for the evening. You can sit back and enjoy your party as Mike and his crew take care of everything from set up to clean up.
